Geek Squad at SLU Lab

Thanks to SLU Lab sixth grader, Andrew Bordelon (pictured on the left), also the  leader of the "Geek Squad", the SLU Lab students are now able to use websites on the iPad, or other Apple devices, that require Adobe Flash. Andrew made it possible for Jaylen Jackson and others to use Skills Tutor on IPads when he discovered Puffin. Puffin is a free Internet app that has Adobe Flash. Way to go, Andrew!!!

Alisa Lagroue, Art Teacher at Midway Elementary School spent many hours putting together Midway's first Art Gala. It was held on Thursday, April 26, 2012 and students from every class throughout the school had their art on display. The Art Gala drew quite a crowd and parents, students, and teachers alike enjoyed refreshments along with an evening of beautiful artwork.

Loranger Elementary receives check from Community Coffee

Loranger Elementary School received 1st place in collecting Community Coffee Labels in Tangipahoa Parish School System! Librarian Glynda Toney and Principal Andre' Pellerin received a personal visit from the Community Coffee Representative as well as a check for $1112.00!! Students Briannon Toney, Savanna Ingraffia and Hanna Rose were on hand for the presentation.

Walk Fast Shoes at LHS

 Loranger High students were rewarded for "Walking Fast to Class". The PBIS committee sponsored the event where students with two or fewer tardies reported for the week of March 19-23 were able to wear any shoes they wished to school (with the exception of high-heels). Students pictured chose to take advantage of the day by wearing boots, flip-flops, slippers, etc.

Zoom into Careers
 
Junior high and high school students can explore the exciting fields of culinary arts, television, inventing, photography, theatre, criminal justice and digital innovations at Southeastern Louisiana University this summer through “Zoom into Careers” workshops.

Southeastern Louisiana University is proud to offer this series of exciting career workshops for junior high and high school students. In the hands-on courses, participants explore a career and gain knowledge of the competencies required to succeed in their field of interest. These summer workshops will introduce students to career opportunities available in Louisiana and compatible higher education programs within Southeastern’s college curriculum.

Charley Vance and the Talented Theatre Classes in TPSS have produced three movies this year.  They recently held their "Movie Premiere" at the Central Office in Amite.
